In January 2022 swissuniversities, the Swiss Academies for Arts and Sciences, the ETH Board and the Swiss National Science Foundation published the Action Plan for Open Research Data (ORD). Its goal is to change our way of dealing with research data in Switzerland. The plan is divided into four fields of action:
The Action Plan follows the ORD Strategy adopted in 2021. Each participating institution is responsible for the implementation of several tasks. A Strategy Council with nine members from the participating institutions monitor the strategic management.
The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences are assigned to establish a permanent Sounding Board of researchers and its administration. The main task of the Board is to advise the Strategy Council and the Coordination Group as its supporting unit by responding to their questions and issuing recommendations to encourage the participation of research communities in the development of the Swiss ORD landscape. Within the context of these tasks, the Board may consider anticipating future ORD-related developments. Furthermore, it acts as the Jury of the Open Research Data Prize, which will be awarded by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences.
We are calling for members to join this newly established Sounding board. We are seeking members who have a keen interest in Open Science and have already gained experience in ORD research practices. Members of the Sounding Board should be affiliated with a Swiss higher education institution and be able to showcase ORD practices within their field of expertise.
The Sounding Board consists of up to 16 members and will be supported by a dedicated secretary starting their job in fall 2022. Our goal is to have a diverse Board of researchers with different disciplinary and methodological backgrounds as well as different career levels, positions (PhD being the minimal requirement), genders and affiliation.
Please send your CV and a letter of motivation by 15 August 2022 to:
The up to 16 members of the Sounding Board will be selected by their interest and personal experience documented in the submitted dossier and the diversity criteria mentioned in the mandate. The Coordination Group will prepare a short-list of candidates to the attention of the Strategy Council who will elect the members.
