Successful visit to Israel

26 octobre 2022

On invitation, Marcel Tanner visited the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities on 17-19 October. Founded in 1961, it comprises over 140 researchers from all disciplines. Discussions with its President David Harel and other Academy representatives focused on scientific policy advice and the Young Academies. A memorandum of understanding is being sought to continue cooperation between the two academies.

Talks also took place at the internationally renowned Weizmann Institute and at the Swiss Embassy, with a view to strengthening bilateral scientific cooperation between Switzerland and Israel. This was preceded by a visit by State Secretary Martina Hirayama to Israel in April and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the national research funding agencies by Israel's President Yitzchak Herzog and Federal President Ignazio Cassis in Bern in August.
