Integrity 2.0: code, career and new culture

Event for the publication of the code of conduct on scientific integrity

Scientific integrity is based on adherence to fundamental principles and their manifold, context-related concretisations. These principles guide scientists in their research and teaching activities, as well as in their examination of practical, ethical and intellectual challenges. The code of conduct for scientific integrity, which was published by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences on 11 May, helps to ensure that a corresponding basic attitude is taken into account and practised, and that a culture of scientific integrity is strengthened in a sustainable manner. The code of conduct developed in collaboration with the Swiss National Science Foundation, swissuniversities and Innosuisse.

The aim is to create a cultural change together with all actors in the scientific community, to answer existing questions and also to take into account the special characteristics of partner organisations. An important basis has been created for the entire ERI sector, which codifies a common practice of standards and makes it unmistakably clear what good scientific practice is.

In the first part of the event on 30 September 2021, we will talk about the challenges, the origins and the motivations of the code of conduct. In the second part, our guests will discuss in an interactive panel the meaning of the code of conduct, its influence on careers and how a cultural change can be carried out together. After the panel discussions, there will be an aperitif.
